For our Prepared Foods Manager, Chris, the season of Lent has always meant pierogies on the table – the kind of meal that brought his family together.

Now that tradition lives here, too.

Chris’ handmade pierogies are available in the market case — simple, comforting, and perfect for a Friday meal.

While researching neighborhood markets for Harvest on Main, Jill spent time visiting places she loves — including Mayfly Market & Deli @mayflypgh on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

While she was there, the team shared a story about a customer who stopped in every day during cancer treatment to treat herself to fresh flowers.

That moment stayed with her.

Now, Jill is bringing that same kind of everyday beauty to our neighbors here in Sharpsburg.

“I wanted it to be something we have here that feels nice, and brings a little bit of brightness to someone’s day,” says Jill, Harvest on Main’s Director of Operations. “Even if they don’t buy them, they’ll know we have them.”

If you’re nearby today, we hope you’ll stop in and bring a little brightness home with you 💐 @rootsellerpgh
We’re honored to be featured in Pittsburgh Senior News, highlighting the many ways older adults help power Second Harvest through volunteer service.

From tagging clothing to stocking the Free Fridge, seniors across our community bring their time, talents, and life experience to the work we do every day. And as many of them say — volunteering also brings connection, purpose, and belonging.
