Second Harvest brings second chance of thrift store

What began as a final wish to help her community has become a reality that has rallied many in neighborhoods along the Allegheny River and into the North Hills.

Wilma Steobner, a member of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, left a $300,000 bequest to her church to serve people less fortunate, a mission important at many houses of worship. The Rev. Chris Taylor, senior pastor, said church leaders discussed possibilities then created a task force to use the funds to open a thrift store in Sharpsburg.
